There Is Only One

A song by Mariah Hlatywayo

There is a brilliance the darkness cannot swallow

There is a joy, a hope that never dies

There is a Son, a Servant and a Saviour

There is only One, and His Name is Jesus Christ

I looked to the world, but it’s pleasures ran me dry

With no-one to hold me as it rained all through the night

From the depths of my soul,

I yearned for I was hungry

Until I tasted Jesus, the Holy Bread of life

There is a friend more loyal than a brother

His yoke is easy, and He makes my burden light

Speechless in awe

I gaze at Him and wonder

A lamb led to slaughter

For me, why did He die?

I peered into the abyss

But it was more than I could fathom

And so I cried with my hands lifted high

From the depths of my soul

I reached for I was searching

Until I found the answer, the Way, the Truth and Life
