This Summer: A Photo Essay
By Rachel Carter
This summer looked like big sister squishy snuggles, puzzles all over the floor, and building Duplo zoos. It looked like fairy floss flowers, tomatoes in bloom, and endless washing drying outside. This summer looked like afternoons in the pool, overcoming fears and growing in strength. It looked like vibrant blooms defying the sweltering heat, chooks dust-bathing to keep cool, and surprising new growth, found only if you look closely. This summer looked like soft, dripping curls, late afternoon light blazing brilliantly through the gum trees, and water balloons galore. It looked like constant hand-watering with a hose, and sunshine gleaming off the leaves, and sitting on jetties. This summer looked like collecting seed pods, cuddles with precious babes, and the sweetness of sibling love. This summer was like a hazy dream, filled with mundane moments, little joys, easy to miss. Over too soon, fading away, the warmth of these summer moments linger on.
